When I took over as manager of the Isle of Arran Distillery Visitor Centre I was embarrassed when coffees were served as it was granulated coffee with powder milk from a basic machine. The quality of the coffee did not complement the quality of our whisky or the beauty of the surroundings let alone the impressive visitor centre.
I needed an Espresso machine which offered a good range of fresh ground coffee served with fresh milk or cream. I also wanted the facility to serve large cups for those of us who like a long drink and to maximise profits.
I thought the original espresso, bang bang machine, as I call them, was the only answer which has training and operator issues in addition to speed and cost implications.
Ionia Espresso happened to contact me when I was starting to look for a suitable machine. When they brought a couple of machines in for demonstration we were very impressed. At the touch of a button the coffee is ground, hot water is filtered through the compacted coffee and fresh freeze dried milk is added as required. No bank bang with this machine and the cleaning, filling and emptying of the used coffee are simple operations. The machine is quiet and safe to use.
We had the Korinto machine delivered and installed in March 2007 ready for the season, we now proudly serve a good range of quality coffees which gains us many complements and serve many second cups. Since the installation of this machine coffee sales have increased dramatically, customer satisfaction is high and profits have increased. What more do we need, another machine as soon as possible to cope with the demand.
A new machine, the Kobalto was installed in time for the 2009 season and is proving a great success.
